Tony Snow, nuevo portavoz de la Casa Blanca, se quejó durante su primera semana en el cargo de que los periodistas americanos estaban minimizando en sus informaciones la supuesta bonanza económica que vive el país y sugirió que la cobertura informativa debería ser más positiva. Paul Janensch, profesor en la Quinnipiac University, le responde en Courant.com:
"They [The Bush Administration] are focusing on the big picture, which looks rosy, but ignoring the little picture, which does not. [...] The news media would look silly if all they reported were the positive big picture. They should continue to give us the negative little picture as well. The economy may look great from a high altitude, but it's a different story on the ground".
